In cooperation with UNDP and supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Myanmar, MIID recently initiated “Strengthening the Inle Lake Management Authority to Improve Conservation and Development Project”.
The project aims to strengthening the organizational foundation of the Inle lake Management Authority (ILMA) in order to improve conservation of the lake. This includes activities such as building a monitoring system and database with scientific information about the lake.
The project will enable government and development partners to better coordinate and prioritize lake management and environmental protection activities. A separate component of the project will train 10 young people, representing diverse ethnic groups in the lake region, turning them into Inle Lake Ambassadors for protection and conservation in their communities.
